WMI Acupuncture School - Biomedicine

This course introduces students to the Western medical system and its integration, or disintegration, with acupuncture and Oriental medicine. This includes clinical skills building and a survey of clinical medicine and their foundation in the biomedical sciences. Students will develop the clinical skills of history taking, the Western physical exam, and laboratory and advanced test usage in the diagnosis of disease in the Western medical model. The course is predominately lecture-based, but includes independent research, problem/case based didactic sessions, case presentations, and field trips to Western medical institutions. Over eight semesters, the course will explore the following clinical and basic sciences that provide Western physicians with their understanding of health and disease:
